STORY
Petalkit was born in Shadowclan to her mother, Goldenstep, and her father, Elmshadow, and littermate, Burningkit. She left Shadowclan as a kit with Goldenstep, Loonfeather, Sunsetpaw, and Chamomilepaw. After waking up one morning to her mother and Sunsetpaw gone, she soon lost her uncle and Chamomilepaw, leaving her to navigate the outskirts on her own.
Moons of starvation and near-fatal trial-and-error after being separated form her family, Petal ran into Beetle and Delphic, a couple of rogues near the territories. Beetle quickly took the scrawny, untrusting young she-cat, not much more than a kit, under his wing even through Delphic's suspicions. Dlephic could smell the clan on Petal though it seemed Petal had no true memory of it. Delphic remained skeptical of Petal but allowed her to tag along as long as she could keep up. With Beetle teaching her hunting and fighting moves, Petal quickly progressed. While Beetle became something akin to a brother to her, she felt very little in the way of loyalties or affection to Beetle but always knew to fear Delphic. Petal went along with Delphic, becoming a more reliable back up even than Beetle, through Delphic's different attacks on the clans, defending and fighting for the she-cat through her own self-interest.
Early on, she met Blackpaw of Thunderclan. The two met across the border whenever Delphic and Beetle settled near enough. Petal slowly grew to look forward to these chance encounters though Blackpaw seemed to do most of the talking. She enjoyed listening to him and allowing herself to think about something other than her own survival even for only a short time.
Moons had passed, and it had been a few moons since she'd seen Blackpaw, but she knew the scent quickly when Delphic led her and Beetle along the Thunderclan border. It was here that Delphic was confronted by Thunderclan's deputy, Copperfire, along with his patrol of Newtlight and Blackfir. When the fighting began, Petal was aware of three opponents but hadn't noticed the now-named Blackfir until she jumped out to defend Delphic against his attack. Seeing her old friend and her tentative allegiances pitted against one another, Petal turned from Blackfir and attacked Delphic. In the encounter, Beetle was killed and Delphic run off. The guilt of likely causing Beetle's death stuck with her but she knew the only course of action that would end with her survival was to join Thunderclan with Blackfir. Delphic was out there and the she-cat did not take betrayals well.
With Blackfir guiding her, Petalflight became a warrior of Thunderclan. Amongst her new clan, she never quite fit in, making no effort to integrate with her clanmates and finding clan ways mostly illogical and incomprehensible. She stuck around for the safety the clan provided as well as the friendship she valued in Blackfir.
Soon after her joining with Thunderclan, she happened upon a lone Windclanner along the border. The two, though guarded, hit it off and began seeing one another every quarter moon in the same spot along the border. Petalflight felt herself opening up, seeking the understanding this clan cat had in her, something she hadn't found anywhere else within the clans. Pignut was questioning and open-minded and seemed to find a similar kinship in her.
